, the DX100 processor is slower than the SONY's....

Hahah I was never on the side of Sony =)

After owning my A860s for more than a month, I find that it generally works well for some iems/headphones but not so for the others (at least, not those that I own).

It could be the high output impedance that cause the FR to be non-linear on my iems/headphone. I had the same problem on my Sony X1061. I went back to iPod and realized how flat and balanced they are generally across the frequency when compared against the Sony.

This flaw of the A860s is not obvious at the time of initial use because it tends to sound good and gloss over its imperfection. But after prolonged usage, it becomes obvious.

I don't expect the Z-series walkman to be leagues and leagues ahead of the A860s series because they basically employed the same technology. It is reported that the output impedance on the Z-series is 16ohms.

PS: It should be noted that I am a very demanding person in the area of SQ though

Been home 1 hr, and have just had my hands on the Z1060 delivered this past Monday, charging it now (with the WMC-NWP10 Portable USB Adapter). Road Warriors, I've had this cable since my A829 (& A846), a must have, get one while you still can...

Anyway, the html User Manual is loaded on the unit. If there is a convenient way to post a zipped copy of the Manual (in html format), please suggest (will still try to convert to pdf when I have time). Looks like a new version of Media Go is also on it. It didn't try to auto load the install when I plugged the unit in, just auto loaded the driver (good). Also (for what it's worth), it does have aGPS, re: someone's prev. comment mentioned it didn't. There is no NC on this (as there was on the A846, who cares when using iems, even on planes...).

The form factor is perfect. I can see immed. retiring my NWZ-A846 and passing on my Acer 7" a100 (one less things in my bag, not to mention that the a100 can't be charged by usb). As a weekly traveller, smaller is always better in my books (except going from a 2.8" to 4.3" screen). Already have a Monster 18" thin HDMI cable to travel with.

Almost forgot, the included iems(???) look to be junk (got Audeo's, UE T-Fi's, and 535's). Pairing with my new Digizoid and my (older) Headstage 3.

Edited - Quick 1'st SQ Impressions:
My comments have no scientific backing, but I feel the A846 (as another person mentioned), is "warmer." The Z1060 seems to have a larger "sound-stage," and using the headphones out, it is louder than the A846. Overall the Z1060 sounds fantastic to me. I'll be happy to leave the A846 on the shelf.

SQ impressions to come...

Please may you upload the "media go" to somewhere so I may try it for my Z, as mine was used and the contents were wiped!
Appreciated

Sure, np, will advise by PM

1 favor though. In your quote of my above message, would you please edit and remove the url. I've edited the orig (re: it's not a sponsored link, and I'm in "violation" of the posting rules.)

Thanks, and apologies to Admins for initially forgetting about the url rule.

Well, after reading the reviews I probably stay with my Walkman X-series and wait for the successor of Walkman Z-series. And I hope that Sony will make a little bit smaller device with at least 30h music playback time. And of course better SQ than predecessor :D
But in this year I'm going to buy Sony XBA-3 to check myself difference between BA and dynamic driver :D

Would someone that still has the orig. (pre-installed) widget on screen 2 above the Google Search widget, a combo of wi-fi, etc?? (not the screen 3 music player widget), figure out exactly which widget it is and let me know.

I trashed it, without thinking of movig it to another screen, and now I don't seem able to reporoduce it (not knowing which widget it is/was)...

Thanks, perfect.

Slingbox looks great!!! Zero graphics lag. The native browser is barely adequate on features, but does appear to register as Desktop mode...using Firefox, and the "No Lock" app is a must.

No Lock is the simplest most effective feature that should have been built into android!

Pretty sure the Japanese version got it (that and the lack of 64gb is the reason why I got the Japanese version), I will report whether the NC function is really there when I got my unit (somewhere over the Pacific Ocean by now I hope).

The more interesting question is whether the US and EU versions got the hardware required for NC installed.  If they do, then it might be possible to simply modify the software (i.e. root and install a new firmware) to enable the NC function.

I have to come back with some review

NC only works with the supplied IEM or MDR-NWNC200 , I tried it with  TF10, and NC did not work , so for me it is useless!
it is really good, but only with ....this is a bump

I confirm but it requires specific SONY headphone model to work, basically its useless!

I disagree, Sony Walkman series which have NC function always require the original Sony headphone to be used.  But that is not any different from headphones that have NC function, they are always specialised headphones and no normal headphones have NC function.  I found that the sound quality of the headphones that come with the A845 I got to be reasonably good and the NC function work quite well on a train in a A845.
