If you search most ultra high end sacd players, they are only 2 channels. The typical audiophile only wants a a two channel player because like Frank said, all of the money is put in sound reproduction. And like what's also been said on this thread, if you want multichannel or a do it all player, marantz has those. That's not what this player is all about. I have two mulichannel sacd players. One is in my main home theater, and the other is in my bedroom home theater. I have a dedicated two channel only rig, and though my main home theater consists of a 9.2 setup(sounds excellent as well), my two channel rig is in another league. Putting a mutlitchannel sacd player in my two channel or headphone rig is just a waste and a compromise in sound.
