How could I have missed this. Who doesn't want to own the legendary helmet headphone?

In all seriousness, I hear the Float's have amazing soundstage but is it worth the price?. I'm not sure I'd spend the equivalent of an HD800 for these though.

Any impressions on these new models?

I normally don't really care how a headphone looks but man the floats might be too much. Would sure love to hear them though. I assume the wood frame ones are just a prototype, is that correct?

Are these new Jecklins ($1700) the electrostatic or dynamic type?
Can they be used without the proprietory power supply ($1700) or must we spend the ($3200) for the set?
What have these 'new' Jecklins done to the price of the older rare models?

Was this AKG's answer to Jecklins large diaphragm?

So is that 22-pound box optional? Could I just plug this into my 'stat amp without it?

Since it effectively doubles the price ($2,600 EUR), I'm reminded of the H2+ which "actually" costs $3000 USD when it's all said and done. Of course you don't have to use the transformer box in theory. With the ERGO AMT on the other hand, it comes with an adapter to use with speaker amps figured into it's $1000 USD price, but you can spend an addition $500 to $2000 on a dedicated driver unit to improve performance.

maybe i am wrong but as far as i know the box (internals) is completely redesigned from the old one and the new version wich you can buy  is little bit lower in size than on the picture. The new version of the headphone some people heard it in Switzerland said it to be the most realistic sounding headphone ever produced.
