Sorry, edited my post. USB isolator.t
The dac has one built-in but using an external one could help, especially if noise is very low at the output. Also, using an isolation transformer on the pc would help. It would prevent much contamination of the ac line. Or you can use the AC isolator on the dac. A PC contaminates the ac line with a lot of high-freq noise, which affects the DAC.

For not much money, the Zerozone pt500 should be fine. The pt700s would provide additional isolation. But given the price, I would use it on the sensitive audio gears: clock, DI, streamer and dac. The spo-500 is their top model, it features an o-core transformer (500w) otherwise it is the same as the 700w pt700s.

I use the pt-500 on my file server and switch. The spo500 feeds the dac, DI, clock and streamer. As for Zerozone, also use their Leo psu (homemade version) on my streamer. I like their products. I also bought a STUDER900 psu board from those same guys, great little board and cheap.

Random:

The clear plastic tops are very trending right now on all brands.

I hope Kingwa does not add/follow the RGB lights, thats the next thing awaiting…

What would you recommend as an upgrade to R28NOS? I could sell, and apply the $$$ towards a new all in one or separate units. Or, I could add to R28NOS. What are your suggestions? I am driving JMA XTC (high sensitivity dynamic driver) but also imagine adding back a planar magnetic in the future.

If you like the Audio GD R2R sound, I would recommend the R27RE or R27HE. I have the R27RE as well as the R28NOS, both are in different rooms. To me the R27RE is an upgrade for sure. The upsampling modes are noticeable which I like. It's larger though. Size wise it's larger. The R27HE is huge. It's why I am in the process of selling the R28NOS.

Most worthy upgrade you can do is everything around the R28NOS. Audio-gd keeps shining every step you take every tweak make

Sell the DAC and upgrade to a better unit or units. The amplification is better with separates than it is with the integrated units, if you have the money and space for them.

Thanks for chiming in, @Currawong, @OCC7N , @Patswalker !

I can’t make any sense of the website, but what I would love to know is what I gain for each of the options listed below:
Add DI24 (to R28NOS)R27 MKIIR27 RER27 HELeast expensive combo of separates- R-8HE MK3+ Master 9 MK3
Total out of pocket cost to me$648$2099$2390$3390$2290+ $1138= $3428
What I gainBest amplification

Appreciate any additional help here!

I can comment on some of the equipments:

I own R28 (1st Gen), Di20He, R8He and HE9

R28 + Di20He is a sizable jump from R28. This is going from good to better.

R28 + Di20He to Di20He+R8He is a big jump. This is going from better to best.

The above are connected to a speaker system. My headphone system (Focal Clear and Senn HD800s) may not be able to get a sizable difference on the headphone setup between that of R28+Di20He compares to R28+Di20He+He9. However, I find that headphone on Elekit 8900 with Di20He+R8He+He9 is better than headphone on the He9 for headphone listening.

The addition of Di20He to either R28 or R8He is a good increase in sound quality and in my system, is the most significant improvement achievable with that increment of cost.

I don't have R27, so I cannot comment on that one.

IIS question especially on Audio GD gear. Can high quality ultra high speed HDMI cables be used for IIS connections without damaging anything? I'm trying to solve a debate with a friend of mine.
If you are connecting two pieces of Audio GD gears, yes, you may use an HDMI cable. For example, from a DDC such as Di20 or Di24 to R8 or R28
