New Audeze LCD3

Just bought mine... woot.

Er, bought it at 5:20 while stuck in rush hour traffic.  2 hours ago.  The moment the emails came in saying it was back in stock.  Not sure if I count as the preorder crew, but I put in a preorder request on the first day it was available and received no communication whatsoever from Audeze, despite being an MOT.

Based on other people's impressions so far, the LCD-3 must sound quite good, but I really wish Audeze had improved the comfort/ergonomics aspect of the product. They will surely address it in the future, so I wouldn't be surprised to see an LCD-4 sooner than buyers of the LCD-3 would like to see it... I'm conflicted between buying it now, or waiting for a version with a revamped build. Somehow I can't get over the feeling that I'd be spending $2,000 on a product that should be priced at $1,300 or so.

The LCD3 is slightly more comfy. The pads are more plush and squishy, there's less clamping force on the sides of the head, and better apparent weight distribution (at least from the r1 that I had.)

What really worries me is the highlighted sentence on the order page. It means the LCD4 may come tomorrow.

... and if any one of you finds yourself with a surplus LCD-3, perhaps if you feel the urge to go back to your HD600 for a while as your main headphone, I'd love to give the LCD-3 a listen and will gladly post my impressions. I'll do my best, of course.

Damn my preference for Velour!  Why, why, why audeze!  Love the sound, hated the leather fit.  He-6's and T1's it is but would still love a demo some day.  Then again, I swear I'd never date a chubby girl a few years ago and now here I am..

Don't know if there was any point in the pre-order, I was directed to the in-stock LCD-3 page following the links that were sent to me by Audeze.

Now the race is on, will your new cable for my LCD3 from you beat my LCD3 to my door.

Ordered myself a pair :)

This will be my first venture into the world of high end cans (previously owning the HD 580). Here's hoping for a mind-blowing experience.
