The cut off point for the sub, isn't it changeable? - or do you mean that even at maximum bass 'boost', your regular speakers are only just mixing in with the sub at that point - and that it sounds like there is a hole in your soundscape?
I wouldn't have thought the speakers cut off point would be any lower than 100hz maximum, and i'm pretty sure that subs... even when working normally can go higher than that??
