Hey guys, quick question.
Just got the Tributes yesterday off ebay from a seller named Blinq. Loving the sound on these, they are replacing my Coppers which broke after two years but were luckily under Squaretrade warranty. I have checked youtube videos comparing originals to fakes, and these fit the description of what originals should come with. Besides they sound amazing, and after having the coppers I think I would notice the difference between originals and fakes.
I got them for $250 as new, and they came with all the accessories. However, the box was not shrink wrapped, instead there was tape covering the box and the outside sleeve. Obviously these had been opened before, although it seems like they did not suffer from too much usage as all the super tips and the cds were in pristine state. For this price I don't mind much that they came open box.
However, heres where the issue arises. After listening to them for about an hour and switching tips, I noticed that the left driver is missing the mesh cover (or filter, not sure what its called). It still has this white, flimsy substance covering the entrance, but the metallic one is not there. I have contacted the seller and they said they will refund my money. But is this really a big issue? They sound great right now, I'm just afraid that in the future they won't because of this. I don't want to go through the hassle of having to find someone else selling these earphones at the same price and then having to go through the whole process of checking whether they are fakes or not.
What do you guys think, is the mesh cover/filter very important to the wellbeing of the earphones?
Thanks in advance!
