Interesting, because the stock cable is so thin, I really have very little time on it, but to be fair also, at home, its just way to short, plus I am bothered by the inline volume, and associated circuitry. I really would like a custom Toxic Cable, has anyone had any thing custom made for these yet ? I saw a post yesterday, this is one of the more active threads, is that true ?
That makes sense.
I foamed directly beneath the hole and may blue-tak the edges before I take out the foam altogether. There is no sense of "brittleness", the bass sounds warm and full [but lacks thwack], and I am getting a nice enlarged sense of space, but there is a little too much bass "overhang"/boom on some tracks.
What about arranging 4 smaller pieces of felt in a "cross" pattern: at the top/bottom & right/left near cup edges? Might try that later.
Have to start slicing and dicing that deerskin jacket!
Ya, I ended up using same, it also helps to properly position the chrome ring so the holes align with the screw posts, I was also using a small tool like a hook to grab the elastic and pull it off the post, only on the connector side, the other earcup didn't hang up on the elastic, went together easily, so it is a bit of the luck of the draw. I took a second pair apart to verify wire polarity, and it went back together with no problem.
Exposed RABBIT HOLE. But what's still down that there hole? It still looks half obscured. Ain't gonna mess with that..
This is the left driver. Tricky person because of the shortness of the wire from the board to the driver. Careful does it!
This is the right driver. Much easier to work with because there is no board, and the wire is a lot longer.
The mods definitely move these puppies into bass cannon territory lol! The interesting thing though is that they handle all of that bass well without getting distorted, and the mids and highs are left intact. For the first few songs I listened to, I was basically just kind of speechless by how cool they sound. Never appreciated the bass guitar so much!
Too much bass for me? We will see after some extended listening sessions. But now that I am a mod god, it will be no problem getting back in there to experiment further.
Thanks for all of the great photos Lorspeaker! They helped a lot.
