Sorry, but are there any updated and working drivers for windows 8.1? It's been a while that I have had occasional PC freezes when I use the W1. Thank you.
I found, thrown in a drawer, an old Jitterbug Audioquest that I used with the Dragonfly red (with no noticeable difference), do you think it might make sense to connect it to one of these new dacs? Do any of you still use it? How should the audio improve in your opinion? Thank you.
Sorry if I went a bit off-topic.
I have succeeded in updating my W2-131 to the new firmware. Whereas I normally wouldn’t have because all was fine, I did want the IE600 SDF. Primarily, I’m detecting the lift in mid-bass, and currently listening to several sources for deciding when and with what I might want to engage it.
I have a technical question… At what point is the SDF and EQ applied? I mean is it the same as applying a profile and/or EQ before it leaves the source? Or, are the required modifications folded into the decoding process somehow? … as if the L&P process minimized integer math error?
I’ve just updated my W2-131 to the new firmware and am about to test the new IE600 preset with…well… my IE600. Exciting update for me of course. Let’s see if it’s any good.
Not sure what to make of it after a couple of days. It sounds slightly different to my ears, maybe a tad more bass but not a big difference all in all (IE600 profile).
I do get, however, weird artifact sounds that just sound "wrong" to my ears when using the IE600 SDF in comparison to the normal one from time to time. That happens on the Mac and on the iPhone.
Check:
Pick the long remix version.
It doesn't happen on normal but does sound weird with the IE600 option when things get hectic in the track. Is it just me?
