Hi there,

I have been looking at getting a dedicated headphone amp for quite a while to drive my HD650's and possibly some 600ohm DT880's in the near future.

I was about to buy the MKV but on reading up a bit more I found the Audio-gd C2.

Now i am down to these 2 amps, so is the C2 worth the extra cash? Any other recomendations are also welcome, but I am ideally looking for something solidstate and with 2 inputs.

Thanks for any input.
Neil

Most likely.

I am leaning more toward an MKV because it is cheaper, and seems to have a lot more positive feedback. Whereas i have found some who say the C2 is warm and even muffled.

If you buy Audio-gd gear, they change quite a bit as they burn-in.  It is a bit of a rollercoaster ride.
The C-2 is an upgraded version of the C-2C.  I hope this thread helps you.  The C-2 is most likely your best bet.

Ahh, my old first review.  Get the C2 I reckon (the successor to the C2C) and get a set of, say, LME49710 OPAMPs. They cost stuff-all and are way better than the default OPA2134s.  You can play around with different (single, not dual) OPAMPs with it if you're inclined to do so.  They all have a slightly different tonal balance, so you can play with tuning the sound this way.  The amp itself is in that mid-range bracket where the qualities of the Senn HD-6X0 series start to come out.

LME49710 is from National Semiconductor, not Linear Technology, lol.

Whoops, thanks for pointing out that mistake.  I edited my post.
