A $500 upcharge for a paint job is too much for me.
Did you ever listen or had a chance to compare? Cause if you ever do and know the effects of different pads in headphones, you'll know that It isn't just a paintjob.

Also, 500 + isn't bad at all considering that you get a pretty good case and Final has raised the price of all the models.

paint job... Seriously?
It's not just a paint job. They've included a new case, two different cables, the build is quite a bit more refined, updated pads that are exclusive to this model and they've re-tuned it as well.

It's quite a bit different compared to the D8000 & D8000 Pro. All three are tuned differently enough to warrant the different model designations and price adjustments.

And I've listened to them all, this version definitely sounds best. I would love to see measurement of this version, as I'm only afraid of treble peaks in D8k.

I haven't seen any measurements, but I own these headphones (LE version) and nothing bothers me. And I'm sensitive to sharp highs. As for me the tuning of these headphones is perfect.

The upgraded case is worth $200 retail, probably, even more, considering the current inflation, with upgraded pads+slightly tuned down ultra-high for at least $100. So now you have $100 for paint and $100 for exclusiveness:beyersmile:

Well, jokes aside, I love the D8K series and own all of them. I love the D8KPLE the most. They might not change things inside, but the new pads work magically. For financial consideration, a regular D8KP plus the new pads might be the best deal if you can find someone to have these pads on sale separately.
