Well, you know .... I can justify collecting "few of a kind" items from time to time.
It has a bit of story to it though. If you remember when I was ordering my 2nd Odin in Amaranth, I was told to pick a new wood for it as Kennerton might not able to do the Amaranth wood with their new cup producing process .... so I went for the "Old Wood".
However, it turned out that Kennerton was able to make the Amaranth version after all ... not only that but also they made another pair in "Old Wood finish". But it's NOT the Odin Old Wood we know of ...
Instead, it was a Sipo Wood (Utile wood) in Old-Wood finish. So I had 2 more pairs at that point (well, I can choose not to buy it since I ordered only one pair ... but since it's specially made-version .... so why not .. I just have to find a way to finance it).
It looks a bit too similar to the Mk1 Sapele ... but well, it was OK. I liked it enough for it subtle differences. (See photo, left Mk2 Sipo Old Wood, and right Mk1 Sapele).
.
The problem was .... the right side driver had rattling problem at low frequency. So I had to sent it back to Kennerton for service (driver replacement). I was told that it would take about 2 months.
After thinking a while, I inquired Kennerton about changing the cup to other woods. I like my Magister's Bog Oak wood quite a bit, and was told by Kennerton that supply could be running short in some times. So I changed it to the Bog Oak.
Just got it back yesterday .... after 2 months of waiting.
