I was curious, so thanks @ shotgunshane. But how does the Tandems stack up agains the GR07 and/or the EX1000/600 (since you described them as "refined, liquid and natural")?

I think they are plenty different from those others as well.  I really think the GR07 and FXT90 have more in common than the Tandem would with either.  The EX1000 is clearly the king of refinement.  The Tandem places vocals upfront, whereas the I don't think the Sony does but the Sony's are pretty much clearer and more transparent than anything I've ever heard.  The Tandem is pretty much a phone you can listen too all day without fatigue and just enjoy the music without thinking about it.

So I haven't really heard anything similar to them as I haven't owned hardly any mid focused phones.  From my reading it would seem that the Sunrise Xcapes and Hifiman 262 may hold some similarities?  That would be a question for Inks.  I can say they have a spot in my stable.

The Tandem is a bit bassier than the GR07 with some slightly forwardness in the midrange and smoother upper registers. Imaging is on par and it has a bit more dynamic range. It's a very soft, inoffensive IEM that just doesn't do anything terribly wrong. One of the top contenders in it's price range for a dynamic I'll say, I can easily see Eric liking these more than the SE215 at the least. I think the Tandem's tonal approach is very natural. There's a bit more bass than flat with no more than 5db of compensation and it smoothly drops after 5k (limit of note fundamentals) and more after 10k (which smooths out details that shouldn't be upfront). It's not perfect (would like a wee bit more on the higher regions), but the approach is pretty ideal.

Hi guys, my first post here and need some thoughts from you guys towards my next purchase.
I have owned a pair of CX300 for 2 years now and have always enjoy the PRaT and musicality it delivers but the it lacks refinement, clarity, soundstage and extension of high/low frequencies.
From earlier post, I've read thru the earlier post and reviews and feels that FXT90  may be what I'm looking for to replace my CX300.
Would appreciate any thoughts or anyone who have owned/heard the CX300  share some thoughts if this would be a good upgrade.
Thanks

Guys, really would greatly appreciate some thoughts (in comparison to the the CX300) to confirm my assumption (based on what I have read from this thread) on the merit of this phone.

These should easily be a step up. Haven't heard the CX, but those are bass heavy models fwir. These will retain that low end body and warmth but will have more resolution.

FYI, there's going to be a professional graph of these and the Tandems in about a week. I'll let you guys know when it's posted.

Interesting... I am currently trying the large Sony hybrid with the isolating foam. Deep bass is still there, but these tips brings the mids forward even more (especially noticeable with horns and vocals). This might not be everyone's cup of tea, but i'm digging the sound. On a side note, my JAYS silicon ripped apart taking them off of the nozzle of the FXT90. First time I've ever tore up some JAYS. So while the JAYS are excellent sounding on the FXT90, may be something to consider. The JVC nozzle is quite a bit wider than the nozzle of the GR07.

Trying the Senn. double-flange from the IE8. Less mid-bass but wider soundstage on the FXT90... My favorite so far are the JAYS, but they are tough getting on and off the nozzle. The Monster foam hybrids are a very close second and I think I will settle there (although the Sony hybrid wasn't bad at all, I will rank it third on tips tried so far). Still waiting for the tips cute sent me to come so that I can try them.
