Admittedly my knowelege here is limited, however I was in a specialist audio shop and was told it was, so i thought id ask you guys what your thoughts were?

Looks like it has been reviewed pretty thoroughly. Not sure if you would not rather just get a better dac though? Buffers are one of those "tweaks" I take with a grain of salt yeah?

I didn't fully read it, but find it funny that according to them sound is not 'optimal' because of impedance mismatching and this is supposed to fix it while there is no way to select the 'proper' input/output impedance...


btw, I vote 'crap' because it sounds like some more voodoo put in a pretty box.

Fair enough idea, all discrete buffer is pretty cool. Really dumb not to have bypassable volume control on it, though.

I've never seen the point of a buffer. They've always seemed to be yet another piece of gear to sell.

For me, the fewer pieces of equipment in the signal path the better.

Audio-gd used to make them. It's no longer linked from anywhere, and probably no longer made either, but the old page for theirs still exists. IIRC there's a theory that a lot of component synergy has to do with impedance matching. This needs someone suitably knowledgeable in audio electronics to explain though.
