Ragnarok + Vali + Modi 2. Not saying you should get those, but that's a crazy combo within your budget.

The Ragnarok makes little sense to me as a speakerphile. Although I can see the lifestyle unit attraction of it for headaphiles.

Oooh, I forgot about the heat and yes, it gets VERY hot. I bought a portable fan just for the purpose of cooling it off

I own the Grace m902 DAC/Amp/preamp and find it powefull enough to drive my HD600 as well as 800 ohm dt880 without any problems as well as functioning as an excellent preamp. It is built like a a tank, has a remote control available, has two 1/4" headphone jacks, multiple format digital inputs, balanced and single ended analogue inputs and single ended peramp output. They can occasionally be picked up used in the $1k range with the newer units (m920, I believe) being in the $2k range. A really great unit.
