I recently got my hands on this dac and it plays flawlessly when paired with the USB Player Pro app but when I wanna listen to music on the Youtube app or on Spotify/YT inside the Chrome browser, 95% of the times I get this weird buzz that loops (at the rhythm of the song???) and it's hella annoying. Hasn't anyone experienced this behaviour before? I am curious...

Sometimes it plays well but only for one youtube video or song and then the issue reappears again and it doesn't go away no matter what.

Could this be a firmware issue? I don't know the current firmware it has but I am sure it's either the first one (most likely) or second update.

Mr. Thorsten Loesch said it could perhaps be the 3D getting turned on/off due to the XMOS chipset being an updated version as this issue wasn't present with the micro iDSD V1 I had.

Around Page 130 and for a number of pages thereafter, look for posts from "bluex".

The issue seemed to be similar to your problems and was some sort of incompatibility with a certain version of Android on certain devices, the Signature worked fine on other devices including other Android phones.

I assume you are referring just one Android device since you refer to UAPP. I would suggest trying the Signature from other sources and see if the behavior is consistent or source dependent. Ideally perhaps an iOS device or a laptop, something quite different to whatever Android device you are having issues with.

Thanks, I will check it out.

I believe it's a software problem as you well said. Perhaps this Android 11 version I have paired with a Sony XZ Premium doesn't go well with the chipset of this device that controls the xbass and 3d effects so they get triggered in that weird way as I stated above and Thorsten Loesch told me.

What's very interesting is this. I noticed yesterday while doing some testing that when I am using the usb audio player pro app most of the time, the audio playes flawlessly on the dac itself but this weird buzz that goes with the rhythm of the song happens on the phone speakers while the dac plays the song (what the... ???).

Given that, I am not sure whats going on with this but as I said before, could most likely be a software issue. I wish I could test it on a different device just to make sure.

in which app are you talking about? youtube app? does it even have that?

It works perfectly on usb player pro app even connected through a iusb 3.0 paired with an HDD.
The USB Player Pro app. I am having an issue with a different app (Hidizs music player) but turning it off makes it go away. So I was thinking that it might work for you.

As I said, this app works flawlessly and I am loving it since I got it (it sounds cleaner than on pc for me).

I am 99.9% sure it's an OS problem now.

Btw, the problem you have with that Hidizs app, is it the same as mine? do you have this weird buzz sound?

I tried turning on and off the dac or closing and reopening the yt app but this only works like once in 15 tries lol.

Buzzing with youtube, sound dropouts when playing music from my SD card (and I have the same issues with 2 different phones with Android 11 and 13) and turning off exclusive USB access solves this.

And I'm thinking it's an OS issue as well.

Scroll down to the post by inscythe. It's the UAPP app settings, not in the android settings.

Alright so yeah, you (and the reddit user) were both right on this UAPP thing. If I restart my phone and press no on the UAPP to connect the micro iDSD to it, I can use Youtube well (I guess other apps or browsers will work as well). Nonetheless, once I connect it to the UAPP, its function remains connected causing the stutters I was mentioning when in Youtube etc. Closing the UAPP or even using the Force close android function here doesn't make a difference so I wonder if the devs of the UAPP can implement a workaround to force stop it as if I never openened their app cause I think the subprocess UAPP is using to prevent android from having control of the volume is a zombie or parentless so it stays in the background forever until you turn off and on the phone again.

EDIT:

No, it seems that the UAPP has NOTHING to do with this bug happening on my Android 11 device.

I uninstalled the app, restarted many times and it is still the same. It seems that at most, the first song/video on yt plays fine (if you manage to have the low chance of even listening to one without bugs) and then the bug appears and remains no matter what. Restarting or turning off the phone or the dac itself doesn't solve anything.

I wish there was an actual fix for this but I guess its a bug that happens due to the new XMOS chip they used on the most recent devices.
