Haha, your post saved me 30 dollars, thanks.

The RE-600 sale wasn't supposed to officially start until tomorrow, but I guess a few sellers want a head start to move their products quickly.

really tempted to buy a 2nd pair of re-600 at that price - some of them will end up FS here though (but whether they will sell them for less than 200$ or close to the 300$ mark depends on the internal integrity of the seller)

edit :it seems you can get a 3-year warranty for the re600 from amazon for just 18$....

so i guess all the talk about the re600 breaking , goes to waste - i mean 3 years of replacement ? this iem for just 220$...nice.

Just keep watching Amazon's prices for the next week, there might be a brief time when the price is < $200. Like when the RE-400 dropped down to $49 from $79. And maybe the new prices will be permanent if Hifiman likes the sales they made.

It has to be mentioned though that HiFiMAN's customer support is very good, and that the RE400/600 can be re-cabled if all else fails.

Not if you're in Europe. Granted they're very nice but you have to ship to Hong Kong. My faulty pair of RE400s took around three months to get there (or Hifiman just couldn't be bothered to look for it in their mailbox until I had written them a couple of times), either way it's not a road I'm going down again.

Hi,
This year our Black Friday sale(starting from 15th, November) will be featuring our flagship In-Ear monitor RE-600/600s discounted at $199. It is 50% off the retail MSRP $399. You do not want to miss this amazing deal.

holy ****** !!!!!!!!!!!

You have got to be kidding me. They made me send back my re-272 for the "upgrade" price and a week later they discount it 50%. I could have saved the postage to China AND tried to get my RE-272 repaired. It already annoyed me that they made me send it back given they will just chuck it in the bin, but this is appalling.

Hm? I thought this company's HQ is in New York, so it's a Chinese company masquerading as an American company?

Some people may not know about the RE400 vs RE600 tour thread:

http://www.head-fi.org/t/674031/hifiman-re600-vs-re400-tour-thread

It has a few impressions on how the RE400 and filter modded RE400 compare to the RE600
----------------------

And here is how close Rin got with the filters

Graphs definitely don't tell the whole story but it does give you a small snapshot of what to expect.

I find the consensus about the darkness of the 600 bizarre unless Hifiman have changed the tuning recently. I'm a ER-4S/RE-272 kinda guy and to me the 600s are not dark. They are tonally similar to the 400 but because they have better space and separation, they sound brighter than the 400. I was doing some A-Bing yesterday with my ER-4S and they are only a fraction brighter than the 600s. The main difference between them is the 600 has a marginally boosted and midrange, which pushes the treble slightly into the background (VERY SLIGHTLY), the ER-4S remains the king of flatness.

Regarding the great sale on RE-600: I don't have a balanced amp. and would prefer not to use the adapter...is RE-600s (standard 3.5 cable without need for adapter) also available and at the sale price anywhere?

Hi,

Our most popular In-Ear Monitor RE-400 (MSRP $99) is also being discounted to $79. It has been our best selling earphone since it was introduced about two years ago.
Other products included in the sale are the bundle of HM-601 Limited Edition plus RE-400 priced at $149. This is your best chance to get one of the best sounding audiophile portable music players on the market at an unbelievable price. During a sale event couple days ago in China we sold hundreds of units in a matter of minutes.
Quantities for all sale products are limited, so act quick before they are gone.

So yes, the 600s will also be on sale.
