Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600
Oct 10, 2014 at 7:08 PM Post #2,326 of 3,507
Recently bought the RE-400s.  Amazing, it has replaced the vsonic gr07 bass edition for me.  A big factor is the ergonomics, it fits in my ear more comfortably and maintains position.

Is the RE-600 essentially a stepped up version of RE-400.  I'm thinking about getting them, that's how good I find the RE-400s

haha oddly enough it was the opposite for me

not a complete replacement cause both fit me well but i find the bass edition just more fun sounding and more in tuned with my sound signature

I could not get the vsonic to maintain good isolation in my ears.  It would always slightly slide out of place.  Plus, it takes longer to put it in the ear and wrap the cable over the ear.  I guess my ears were not built for em.

big hifiman fan here , i have bought re zero/252/262/272/400/600

i find re600 to be much better than the re400 , but then again i am in the minority who didn't like the re400 at all

re600 sounds like an improved 262 , very nice iem if you are not a basshead/v-shaped sound fan

Man, I am tempted now.  I've only had my RE-400 for a couple weeks and I love it.  I'm into that neutral sound with a hint of warmth.  Sounds like the RE-600 would be end-game IEMs for me

1st bold : no such term you are in head-fi forums

i myself am looking now to upgrade my DAP while my iem upgraditis lies dormant for now

2nd bold : if you love re400 maybe it's best to stay put- look around also for a used RE-272 for 200$ - it is neutral with just a touch of warmth and very, very nice sounding  - this is my favourite iem , i went ahead and bought a 2nd pair as backup when they announced that they would stop production

i never understood why they discontinued this iem - 3 years running and i am still so much in love with it

i am swapping 272 and 600 for now , so next upgrade will probably have to be in the 500+ $ territory

good luck with your  wallet

Re-400 to B3 Pro 1 upgrade feels like "that's what I'm looking for"

proedros, you are a hifiman fanboy (I (have been) also one loved Re-0 and Re-400) but you gotta try it...

i don't think i need any other upgrade , the 272/600 combo feels like a poor man's Jordan/Pippen iem combo

now if i can gather money to buy a DX90 (that would be the Phil jackson of DAPS....)

What is the cheapest upgrade over the RE-400. I am concidering vsonic gr07, havi b3, Ostry KC06...(or can the letter two be concidered an upgrade?).. vsd3 (not a fan of V-shaped sound) ..open for suggestions.
