  I store my songs on a quite old external HD here and I notice no difference to my new internal SSD. Not a single noise. And everything is connected to a cheap APC surge protector.

You guys should focus more on the transducers rather than cables, regenerators and that kind of audio voodoo.

No it's actually much appreciated since I'm shopping for an external drive as we speak and I can't make up my mind.
 
I'm torn between external hard drive desktop (with ac adapter), portable external drive, external ssd and usb stick. Too much choices

Just get the one with more capacity, and USB 3.0 preferable. Or the most practical/useful for you.

Yes definitely USB 3.0. I was also thinking about getting a Firewire or Thunderbolt one because one of my USB ports is already used by the Bifrost but I guess that won't interfere right?
