I have all of the mentioned headphones except the AKG K712 so I can't make any recommendation on it.
As for the other 3, the HE-400i would be the best for the music you listen to if you can live with your earlobe touching the driver housing.
I don't know if you can get the HD-650 from amazon but they were on sale for $290US last week, haven't checked to see if still on sale, if still on sale this is hard to pass up.  The SRH-1840 is somewhere between a HD-650 and HE-400i, its very comfortable and the sound is easy to listen to for hours, sound stage is quite good IMO but nothing like an AKG from what I've read about them.  Try and look in the AKG K712 thread, you'll get much more info there.

260 USD or 260 AUD?
i think you should get other amplifier instead, asgard 2 for example, or really anything!

755 AUD or USD for 1840 is too expensive, WAY too expensive... other than that i can't help you sorry. Many people swears by the irreplaceability of the hd650, i guess that's true. I can see where they're coming from, I enjoy listening to music from he-400i far, far more though, despite it's treble response.

Hello, wonder if anyone could help me choose between HE-560 (i could get "used" around 600$) and HE-400i around 375-400$ (I could actually trade off my HD650 for). Well what i  have right now is HD650 with Valhalla, JH13FP, HDP R10 (something i want to use to drive those headphones). I really need something worth spending in this situation. Thanks

Selling HD650 = Bad Karma. IMO

Where could you get an asgard 2 for $260, it is $389 over here at the authorized dealer. Besides the point he'll need a dac (unless he has one which isn't mentioned). Only some amazon stores will ship to Australia, most don't. For your genres, the AKG, Shure and T90 would not be the first recommendation tbh - although some people might enjoy them for that. Add the Philips X2 to your considerations. I'm assuming because you are only going to buy off Minidisc that you live locally to the store? If so trying out other options will be wise, especially if pad size is an issue. Otherwise Addicted to Audio and Headphonic offer a much better range of amps, where I'd be inclined to get the Vali and Modi or something like that.

]I just won a pair of 400i at the meet in Ann Arbor Michigan and have already made a new cable for them.
I bought some new connectors from Moon Audio and had a flat ribbon cable from a set of Audeze headphones
and boy does a new cable do wonders for these headphones. Longer length and better sound. Very very nice.
My only other headphone is a Beyer T1 I almost was going to sell after getting these. But while I really do like these a lot and will keep both headphone these are not T1 s. And why should they be T1 retail for twice as much. I tell you what though they are not twice as good. And with the cable upgrade the gap closed quite a bit.
Out of an Ipad there is no race at all the 400i wins hands down. At 600 ohms the T1 needs some juice but you know what even the T1 can sound pretty darn good when powered by some not so great sources.
Well any way just thought I would chime in with you all about a really great headphone the Hifiman 400i

i wouldn't spend 200 USD for aune t1 mk2, they're not bad i just don't think their amp section worth the 200 asking price. Admittedly, they do make for a very affordable entry point to experience tube-rolling.
Schiit is expensive in Australasia yeah i know that too, well, what can you say, at least you get a local warranty for Schiit there...

Agree with rovopio here, while the DAC in the Aune T1 is really good (especially with upgraded tubes), the amp section is merely ok. However, if you really are on a budget, you'll still get decent sound with the Aune T1 paired with the 400i and the HD650. Not so sure about the Aune T1 pairing with K712 Pro, as I've actually heard my T1 with a Q701 and that was really lacking in bass (don't know if the AKG was really that lacking in bass or if it was the Aune T1's amp).

I wouldn't get a T1 myself either, I'd be more inclined to go with Schiit instead. Too bad the amps/dacs over here in Australia are soo overpriced. The Magni and Modi are like $400 together. The HE400i would really sing off a Audio GD NFB 15 (that what I've got at work), if inclined to go that path which is fairly affordable compared to some options.

didn't want to do a grill mod?  IMO it opens up the sound stage and gets rid of a ringing I heard every once in awhile.
