Now a majority of the people on this site have more than one set of headphones (If you don't, you'd better be out buying some.

). The question is, how do you decide which ones to use?

I seem to start listening to some kind of music and decide that one of my main headphones (AD700s or MS1s) does better with it and end up not listening to the other set for a week or two, only to find out that the unused set does just fine.

Do you guys try to rotate your headphones or just listen to whatever is closer to pick up?

Yeah I used to do like MS1 for gabber and rock, AD700 for piano and jazz and some electronic. But right now I'm listening to RATM on the AD700s and enjoying it, and I was listening to gabber before this.

I can't say I prefer either for anything now, it's all dead even.

I just grab what fancies me at the moment, no real set rule on what to use for what. Granted I know that all the phones I have sound superb (to me) and w/ my gear so it is not such a hard decision to make.

Whatever's closest usually.. or new.. new gets a preference for a bit.. then its back to rotating..

My son wanted to try all the ones he could see while listening to The Beatles - Please Please Me earlier..

It depends on what music I'm craving. I'll pick the music first then decide which headphone would best suit it. I also change up the amp to suit the music and headphones.

I put speakers into the mix, as well.

It sort of depends where I am located.
* At the office I am "stuck" with the K240 Sextett.
* At home I rotate between the SR-007BL and the two K1000s. No specific pattern, I just alter once in a while and put on some music I like.

HD 595 - when I want comfort and a more laid back sound.
SR80 - for rock
ATH ES55 for outdoor use - less noisy environment (quiet cafes)
Mingo MW-2 - noisy environments (bus, subway, noisy cafes)
UE Super.Fi.4 - outdoors with iPhone but no iPod
Shure SCL2 - for prolonged outdoor use (3 hours +)
PX100 - use when on bed.

I like all of my phones for different reasons. I listen to my S4s more than any other phone, but I listen to each of the others mostly at random. The PL50s are awesome for winding down at night, due to comfort and classical proclivities.

If I don't appreciate a set of phones, my kids end up with them. My oldest daughter (pop) has my EX-700s, and the youngest (rap, r&b) has the EX-300s and EX85s.
