Looking great. I fancy a pair of the Irish production myself. There are minor quality issues with the Romanian ones.Picked up a pair of these recently for £25
Decided to give them a bit of a refresh with new cable (stock 1.5m, I am tempted to get the Oyaide one in the future though), new earpads and new headband pads.

I'm curious what the differences are, if any?

Those aren't the correct pads, so I wondered what was going on.Before and after photos
Yes. The new ones. You read the words but didn't see the pads?
From my limited experience the headband pads are poorly attached and the earpads start to delaminate in a few hours.I'm curious what the differences are, if any?
I've never owned the HD 25 before, but have heard them on a few occasions and when this pair came up for £25 it was too good a price to not get them.
My take on the HD25. 600 Ohm drivers, alu cups, aliexpress pads and Oyaide cables. Yes, they are very good. The Alu cups are works of art, this is not just some alu coating, those cups are machined from a block of solid aluminum. I am sure they were very expensive to make and I suspect they will never be made again.
I bought a s/h hd25 with the Oyaide cable some years ago and it has been used daily, still working well. How are you finding the Oyaide cable, has it proven durable?
Yep, the resistance and capacitance are not only horrible, but they vary by channelUnfortunately, I couldn't find any decent DIY connectors so I went ahead and I ordered a cable directly from Sennheiser as my old cable started cutting on/out whenever I was adjusting the cups.
I never realized there was a steel version before reading this thread, someone said the steel version is high impedance, and it is true indeed. The odd part for me is the steel R/L has a different impedance by 0.5~1Ohm on the hot/cold due to the shorter cable for the R. I wonder if that could cause perceived imbalance for someone.
Aesthetics-wise, there are some differences:
For the newer copper cable, the pin is gold plated, and the jack has the Sennheiser logo and also a slightly different strain relief.
