I just discovered this band, I tried their latest album, Veckatimest and vow...
Other members here were right..
I must say it took a while,
with the first time they seem like a bad clone of Radiohead, but now I cant stop listening,
How is their previous work?

If you like Grizzly Bear, you should check out the latest Animal Collective and the Dirty Projectors album. I like both much better than Veckatimest. Also, both records sounds awesome with headphones

I tried to listen to Animal Collective, but its too much for me, I just dont feel that music, maybe I should try again..

Veckatimest is a great album! Just finished remastering it a couple of days ago. They are a great band!

I love Grizzly Bear! in fact I am going to see them in October at the Treasure Island Music Festival.Also there previous work isn't as popy or accessible, Horn of plenty there debut is basically Ed Droste solo album before the formation of the band and is kind of lo-fi. There second album Yellow House is truly the full bands album and it Shows. Yellow House sounds like Pink Floyd mixed with The Beach Boys to me, checkout the song "Knife" and "Colorado".

Some part of Veckatimest are melodic as much as Kid A.

I don't understand why anyone compares Animal Collective to Grizzly Bear. Of course they're both "indie", but they occupy very different sonic realms.
I will admit I still haven't listened to Veckatimest but Yellowhouse was definitely a favorite in 2006. I'd check that out.
And Radiohead? They share very little outside of difficult yet beautiful arrangements. Two very different bands in my mind.

Yes, of course Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective are (very) different. But I still think it is fair to compare them. It's like recommending Flaming Lips for people that are into Mercury Rev, or???

You should also check out Dirty Projectors.

Yellow House is very good, a solid 'debut' from the whole group. I'm still waiting for Veckatimest to fall in price, it's been stuck at the £8.50 mark on Amazon for ages (yes I'm a tight git).

'Stillness Is The Move' and 'Useful Chamber' are fantastic songs on Bitte Orca, the rest don't quite stack up I feel.

I actually just "discovered" this band a couple weeks ago through last.fm. At first I wasn't so into it but they just seem to get better with each subsequent listen. Great group.

I don't know. You guys might hate it.

For one - the tonal sub textures are more subtle and not in your face.
Two - it's not loud, so you'll actually have to turn up the volume.
Three - it won't sound as good in your car or ipod.
Four - it sounds more natural and there is no distortion or clipping.

From what I gather by modern releases, people hate that stuff.
