Hard to demo pairs in Canada.
Very few owners of certain headphones and even less shops carrying them.
I'm the only one that I know of in Montreal with a TH900 and it's never been brought to a meet.

Ya I lived in Montreal, hard to audition there. I now live in Toronto and you can go to headfone on yonge street. Just make sure to demo there, the owner won't give you any discount. :)

Pretending you are going to buy and demo other headphones as well :)

You can get much better deals either online or avshop, bay bloor radio, etc.

Agreed....Headfone Shop has a nice selection of some more exotic headphones (al'a TH-900, SR-009) unfortunately though there is rarely a savings to be had.  Good place to demo.

I know there are places to buy some but especially within Montreal the only store that carries any higher end headphones is Layton Audio and they don't let just anyone demo

I'm not sure there even is a place in Finland one could demo TH 900, at least outside capital city area.
Does anyone have experience ordering from Thomann.de? I could be down with TH900 and HP-A8C combo if I can haggle 20-30% off the price.

I didn't demo prepurchase. I have the D2000 and was wanting to get the D7000, but along came the TH900 and I just knew it would be my cup of tea. I don't have any urge to mod them, but if I went mad with hyperfunding I would buy a modded pair just to compare.

my backordered pair of th900 finally shipped and i should be receiving them early next week...yay for me!

one of the first things i'm going to do is compare it against my d7000. i really really really like the d7000...and people around here convinced me that the th900 are that much better than the d7000 (well, to some it was just more refinement and to others it was a big difference)...in any case, looking forward to doing the comparison.

Look forward to your comparison.

I don't EQ, but my DAC is known to have a more forward presentation so to some extent it does counter the recessed mids. I personally like the U-shaped response of the TH900, I would not want to EQ it too much anyway.

Which dac is that? That will solve my recessed mid prob.
