Fostex TH600 Dynamic Headphones

Personally I don't find the Denon or Fostex series to scale with amplification all that much. Upgrading your source material and source (DAC/Transport) would yield better results. I've tried a wide variety of amps low cost to high cost and while they all improve on sound as you climb the ladder, the performance/cost ratio doesn't seem to scale all that much in comparison to other headphones that I find scale very well (i.e HD800, LCD-3, HE-6). I think the Fostex headphones in particular respond much better to synergy than to just flat out more expensive gear. A fine example of that would be the WA7 paired with the TH-600/900. Relatively low cost combo that sounds incredible together.

Why would it be former, the 900 is still the flagship. And i havent heard T90 but the T1 is anything but distant or bright. Its one of the best headphones ive heard and is very musical yet still close to neutral

I didn't say that.
What I meant by "former" means it as out befote this newer addition to the lineup. I didn't say "replace".
Also I didn't say bright or distant so let me clear that up as well.
The T1 has more treble energy and a larger stage which is not as "close" as the T90 wich to me had more midrange presence.
The point is the T90 was more of a different sound than a step lower.
To me it was equal resolution.

So it's just an example where a newer model has more traits of the flagship and we can see here the th600 is said to be 90% of the th900 which is great news making this more of a choice than anything.

Also, a prototype tube amp. Sorry for multiple posts, it's the only way the mobile site is letting me do multiple photos right now

No apologies needed! Keep them coming!

Did you get to listen to any of the prototypes? That vacuum tube amp looks lovely! Any prices?

Thanks,

That tube amp has done the rounds before

If they do release something it would prefer slightly smaller for my liking

Is it portable or just desktop? Are you saying you want a smaller portable tube amp?

Thanks,

Edit: not sure if it's planar, it's a lower end model than the th600. Sounds good, but not up to the 600's level. Also, I'll probably be reamed for saying this, but after A/Bing the 600 and 900 I'm buying the 600. And that's also after testing everything here including:
