Bests the X7? Which gets more than ample playing here.

This is indeed, intriguing

X7 is more extreme, and X5 is more balanced。 and there are something missed in the X7 cause X5III can use some new technical.

Dear respected customers,

The memories are still fresh when the X5 2nd gen was released to the market in June, 2015. For the past one and a half year, this lovely model has served us very well indeed. In the mean time, we are more motivated and inspired by customer-centered concept and the market orientation, so it's time for us to upgrade this model and add something new and valuable to make it even better.

The X5 3rd gen will make its debut at FiiO 2016 Winter Launch Event -- 14:00, December 17th (Beijing time) at Sheraton Grand Beijing Dongcheng Hotel. More detailed info of the Launch Event and X5 3rd gen will be shared on FiiO Facebook page (>> FiiOAUDIO) simultaneously. Also, if you want to watch the on-site presentation in Chinese, check it out on Youku (>> Click here) by then. Kindly save the date and make sure you won't miss it.

However, the current firmware is not stable enough, especially some services / apps that are commonly used overseas might not work very well. Therefore, in order to make sure that the X5 3rd gen brings better user experience to our overseas customers, we will first release the initial batch to Chinese market after the launch event, and then release it to worldwide markets with a more stable firmware, about one month or so later. Thank you so much for your kind understanding.

Services & App means Android device - A custom made light weight Android perhaps ?

Yes, confirmed a while ago that the X5iii will be Android sharing the same RK3188 chip as the X7ii.

Noob question, is this CPU, RK3188, faster than the one used in Cayin i5?

I believe it is, but I think just slightly. I really don't know. The Cayin i5 SoC is the Leadcore LC11813 running at 1.2GHz using the Cortex-A7 quad core on a 40nm die, while the X5 Rockchip RK3188 runs at 1.3GHz using the Cortex A-9 quad core on a 28nm die. I don't know what the cache is on the i5 LC1813 so I don't know if the RK3188 would be noticeably faster or not. Perhaps others could chime in with more knowledge of the two SoC's. Seems the RK3188 was released in 2014 and the LC1813 was released in 2013.

How good is the chip in the end is still boils down to how the company implement it.
