I've been wondering if anyone has experimented with swapping the fuses or not. SR Purple Fuses have made a difference in my discrete desktop gear already, I'm wondering it it will also have bennefits for the R9 if I decide to get it?

@FiiO

Hello, do you perhaps know the fuse rating for the FiiO R9 in case I want to swap out the fuse?

Thanks!

When I stopped drinking the Kool-Aid and started to pay attention to science. :):)

Since you are fluent in science can you please tell me what the fuse rating is for the R9? :) :) :)

Sure!
The replacement fuse which comes with the R9 is marked "5KT2AL250V" which means:

I suspect that the leading "5K" is the size

the "T" means a slow acting (or slow blow)

the "2AL" means low breaking 2 amp

and the "250V" means 250 volt

Hope that helps!

Just received my R9 today.

So far the sound has been neutral (as reviews say) with great holographic soundstage, quite resolving with plenty of micro detail.

I was trying to use USB DAC mode and I installed the latest drivers for Windows 10/11 but on Audirvana Origin I can't seem to use the R9 in ASIO mode, only in WASAPI mode. Did I do something wrong? The option for FiiO ASIO Driver is there under ASIO but all the options are greyed out and in FiiO Audio Device Control Panel program, it says that there are no devices connected so I'm not sure what is going on.

Thank you, no more help needed. I found the drivers on the Fiio website.
I will test ASIO on ROON

Nevermind, I tried to reinstall the FiiO DAC Drivers today for the 10th time and it magically worked for me this time. FiiO Control Panel now shows the R9 and Audirvana now has the ASIO FiiO Drivers detected!

Thanks!

I've burned in the R9 for over 24 hours now, so far its been great. At first listen the tuning was a bit lean and harsh but after I let the unit playing for 24 hours I can make out changes in the bass, soundstage and the upper mids peak seems to have cooled down.
I leave the player on DSD Conversion mode which also helps make music a teeny bit more analog sounding and can tame the upper mids peak a bit. Micro details are about the same, which is excellent.
The R9 has been DEAD SILENT when I'm not playing music no matter if I use my Annihilator 2023 or my HD650/JAR650. The THX tech seems to work as advertised.

I have also purchased a SR Purple Fuse (5x20mm - Slow Blow (T) - 250V - 2A) which will probably flesh out the mids and increase realism in the music (these fuses have improved my desktop source gear quite a bit)
