I've been listening to these groups since Neutral Milk Hotel came across my radar in the late 90's.  I've had love/hate relationships with most of their band for the last 12-odd years.  Was interested in knowing other people's opinion.  My personal favorite is OTC and their two incredible releases Dusk at Cubist Castle and Black Foliage.

Agreed! I'm a huge fan of OTC, both albums. Though the more I listen, the more I love "Black Foliage."

Elf Power is also a big favorite, though my favorite album seems to vary. "Back to the Web" has been in current rotation a lot recently, though.

Elf Power is great as well, I was always a big Dream in Sound fan myself.  Didn't include Sunshine Fix on the list but I've really been enjoying them of late.

"A Dream In Sound" is a longtime favorite, too. I'm surprised I haven't worn out the disc over the past ten years.

Yes - I have the Sunshine Fix albums, too, and love them.

What surprises me is that the E6 bands aren't more popular. A lot of them are accessible and sink deep hooks with their melodies.

But I'll keep listening and hope for a revival down the road.

OTC actually just put out a new song The Game You Play is In Your Head Parts 1 2 and 3 available from Cloud Recordings, which will be followed up with their first LP release since Black Foliage.  Also re-issuing their back catalog.
