Actually, I didn't know that until I looked it up just now. And I'm just ecstatic.

I can't think of a lot of people you'd know.

- Henri Vieuxtemps perhaps. Composer born in 1820.
- Guillaume Lekeu. Composer born in 1870. Those 2 composers were famous in their time, now... no comment.
- Pierre Rapsat, singer, he died young last year.
- Maurane, she still sings. Those two are well known on the french music scene but I doubt they'd ring a bell for an english speaker.

That's not a lot of people alive

Vieuxtemps, he probably deserves a little more recognition that he's received. I just played his fifth concerto, not the deepest music you can find, but quite nice nonetheless. I've heard Lekeu's violin-piano sonata, and found it terribly boring.

Kelly Hu actually inspired me to watch Nash Bridges. For those of you who have seen the show, you will realize just how big of a compliment this is.....
Too bad she is nullified Bette Midler, who always makes me run screaming. My grade school music teacher actually made us sing wind beneath my wings in chorus....oh, it is a traumatic memory...

My hometown was Bainbridge Island in Washington state. The only person I remember that was famous that lived there was Charles Lindburgh after his young son was kidnapped and murdered.
