just pulled trigger, 360 with overnight shipping and 2yr warrenty i beleive. Richard, what improvements have the twag cable made? i am considering the newer hybrid cables from whiplash, would they really be best of both worlds as described?

Mika. I own Twag V2 and hybird IEM cable as well. Since I ordered EM4, I am planing to save my hybird cable for my EM4 ( Hybird sound good with SM3 V2, but I don't feel good about the cable is expensive than my universal IEM. )
SM3 V2 is base on warm and over cover soundstage. Twag v2 make it sound clear, open soundstage and the main point is you could hear more detail for this recable.for me. Could be even better than what I hear from my friend's JH13 with stock cable.

Ok, heres another question.  Looking for new player to pair with sm3v2.  Choices
sony 64gb (european w/ vol cap)
cowon d3 (i like android), j3, x9
hifimann 601 or 602
s:flo2
RooCoo P
 
I do not have an amp.  May put off cables for a while, as this is only my 2nd quality IEM, coming from ety hf5, sound should be pretty improved anyways.  I may be getting the newer Sony z-series when the time comes, so just looking at used players for time being.  (of coarse i may treat myself and get cables anyways, but did have an offer for 64g sony and jvc 700 for $570 shipped)

I used X1050 and D2 and 601 before. Korean player and Japanese player has more " Make up on the sound" , never sound natural. 601 not a good player with SM3. S:flo2 and Roocoo P never heard about it. I am using 2 set gear. All fit SM3 so well.

I've heard a couple people saying that the 601 pairs well with SM3's. Haven't had any experience first hand though. What issues do you have with that match?

i have read same thing about the 601 and sm3 not pairing well, really light on the bass i beleive, ill see if i can find where i read that. on a side note i got my sm3 today and am completely blown away moving up from etynomic hf5's. i think the bass on these sound great but not overdone, and sounds really good with both my galaxy epic 4g (voodoo kernal) and my clip+ with regular firmware. i erased the rockbox as i was gonna return the clip, but may reinstall and check it out again. still thinking about getting a used player i mentioned earlier, but might just wait until the new sony's come out i beleive in march.

What sources/amps/dacs are you using to squeeze every ounce of quality out of these gems?

As i stated, im fairly new to higher quality headphones/iems, but moving up from hf5's, these sound amazing coming from my epic 4g (galaxy s series w/ the wolfson chip, rooted with voodoo sound installed, and using the poweramp app).  Sounds nice coming from clip also, no eq needed.  Trying to re-install rockbox and gonna see how that goes.  For anyone interested, soundearphones just reduced price this week by $20, 359 and 1.99 overnite shipping.  I also like the larger foam tips the best so far.
