Ahhh, I see where you're coming from.

It was me who threw out $1200.... Not as speculation, but just a random number to make the point that depending on the price, I would either buy it quickly, or hold off.
I thought the way I wrote it was careful to not be seen as speculation.
Apologies to anyone who read my comment and thought I was speculating as to the price.
It's all good - I think we are all in it towards the same goal - faithful music reproduction to a high standard. Personally, I am hoping the DX220 is enough of an improvement over my DX90 to justify the purchase. I have been watching the R6 Pro since the first whispers of it started to be heard and along with the more recent M11. I have not dismissed the idea of the DX150 either but certainly the DX220 has a lot of folks attention.

Cheers,
Tim

Well said. Of course, now you're making me second guess spending on the Solaris + whatever DAP I end up with!
My thoughts about buying the Solaris. A few months ago I felt a desire to upgrade, and I found myself in doubt whether I should upgrade DAP or IEM. I went to a store and compared my DX208 with SP1000M and SP1000, and I found that the sound difference wasn't worth the 2x price increase. I heard little to no difference between SP1000M and DX200, and SP1000 was better by, probably, 15% percent. So I kept my DX208 and bought the Solaris instead. After Andromeda this gave a lot more exciting SQ increase, better sound was more obvious than in DX208 vs SP1000. I couldn't be happier with the upgrade.

@rutter I have both the ZX300 and the DX200 (TI version). DX200TI is technically better (and I expect that will hold also for the standard DX200 - though I don't KNOW that, as I only ever heard the DX200TI). With some IEMs, though, I actually personally prefer using the ZX300 (like the CL2) - better synergy, maybe.

Bottom line is, you might be better off to try and audition both with your gear and decide for yourself which one will work better for you, unfortunately :frowning2: .

Assume I'm a person who doesn't collect daps and has to pick. The sound is what I care primarily about.
But are you a serial dap buyer ?

You know, if this is an actual hobby then your wives would also be hobbyists when they go to the mall shopping. Alas, I'm not sure anyone gives them that dignified distinction.
True women buy stuff, over priced, to compete with other women or to impress. Men used to buy stuff to collect now they get on forums to compete and/or inpress. A few to get info inorder to impress better.

UGH... my (dream) finish line is what your using.. never try with AmP8, alrd satisfied with Amp1

Actually I had tried SP1000, my impression was not very amusing, while I try to justify that the price is 3x then DX201 at that time, but my ear is still on DX201.... just keep silence because afraid that I was not doing the right demo with song, IEM etc....

Well, many people have been saying that Dx200 is a giant killer for a while now.....even in reviews slowly dripping in over the course of the last 2 years. There is nothing surprising about that

However, some people measure quality by their pocket depth, and not by ears.

So, whatever floats your boat
