DT 770 600 OHM vs 32 OHM (NuForce uDac)

What I noticed is your source plays a huge influence on how much power the udac can drive. From my experience, I am able to drive the udac pretty loud with my dell 1420 notebook but it barely produces sound when used with my Lenovo netbook.

Don't bother driving 600-ohmers with a uDac.

The 32ohms don't get much love here, but I will say that the DT880 32ohm I sold were effing awesome. They were well balanced all around.

Apparently the 250ohm are just as hard to drive as the 600ohm, just not as good sound quality (DT880, at least).

I have the 600 ohm DT770 and my Phoenix amp is at about 55 out of 99 at a decent listening level (HD650 is at about 30-35 for similar listening level). Phoenix is very powerful. uDac is going to be tough for the DT770/600 IMO.

Why don't they get love? Just cause they don't need an amp to sound good? Or the 600ohm sounds too good with an amp?

People here like to use their headphones with their equipment made for their higher ohm headphones. Of course the 32 ohm isn't going to sound as good as the 600ohm with the same equipment. It was made for other equipment. If you look at the graphs, the 32ohm DT880 is almost identical to the non-32ohms. I know graphs aren't everything, but they don't give the 32ohms enough credit.

You're not gonna seriously going to use a 600ohm out of an mp3 player, right? So why would you try to use a 32ohm headphones where they aren't designed for?

I can say yes, the uDac did get to more than sufficient volume with my DT990 600ohms....but I did need to boost the volume of my ASUS netbook. Was it incredible sounding, no. Did it serve until I got a bigger amp, yes.

My FUBAR IV does a much better job with the 600 ohms...but the uDac was acceptable.
