The DT1350s were very nice sounding...at least the ones I had. I've since heard 2 other pair that sounded nothing like them (or each other). But if you can snag a good pair, they are great. But not recommended for people with glasses. My ears still hurt when I even think about them.

I am 2 for 2 in the good sound department with them. I sold the first pair to roll to another, then bought them again. I am in Milwaukee this week and have them on now with the MacBook Pro/Amarra/Dragonfly enjoying Adele and they are excellent. Fortunately, I don't wear glasses...(much...where did I put those cheaters?

Have you heard the KEF M500s? I think you might be impressed with these on-ears.

Not yet. They are on the list with the VModa M-100's....Most of the dealers I frequent seem to be Grado fans....Generally not my choice.

So in recent years, I have begun wearing my Etymotic IEMs underneath my Bose's when I fly. The Bose's isolate the low frequency airplane noise like no other headphone while the Etymotics isolate the higher frequency noise. Combined, I get twice the noise isolation and the outstanding audio reproduction of the Etymotics.

Since the Etys come in a small soft pouch, they fit right inside my Bose carry case (along with my Sansa Clip, iPod Touch, and spare AAA battery). This is an outstanding travel setup!

I agree. The Bose QC15s are not quite up to snuff with sound quality IMHO. However, in my experience they are at the top of the heap in noise canceling. When I travel I use my Shure SE530s with the QC15s over the top of the SE 535s. I've not found anything better for total NC and sound quality when flying. Yet. Because I have the always looking to upgrade disease I continue seeking...

That's easy, swap the SE530's for some SE846's....Simple!

As IEMs and my 41 year old ears don't mix anymore, the QC15s are my "go to" travel cans for the exact reasons you just gave.

You clearly need some nice CIEM's then. They work well for my 52 yo ears....

Something happened this year to me with IEMs. After even 20 minutes my ears get plugged like I have an ear infection and it's bloody annoying as it can take a day or so for them to open back up. So I think I'm done with them (IEMs and CIEMs).

Went to an ear/nose/throat specialist (Dr. of the head-holes according to the Simpsons) and he said I was fine. Just happens after listening to IEMs. Ranges from "feel full" to "is this an ear infection pressure". Sinuses are good, but the easy solution was to follow the old joke:
 
Me: "doctor, my arm hurts when I wave it like this".
 
Doctor: "then don't wave it like that".
 
So IEMs are out for me...thus my journey this summer into portable headphones.
