Chord Hugo

Where did he pointed about it?

There is no portable devices that can be competitive with Hugo to resolve on low volumes.
Hugo resolves on low volumes much better then AK240 and AK100 imo.

Sorry, I can't remember the corresponding posts. You'd have to do a search yourself. Just to be clear: I'm speaking of digital resolution (bit depth) at low output volume settings.

Try different sources. There are a noticeable differences between USB and Optical input.

I prefer opical all the way, a much live, sparkling, analog, fat and 3D sound
in opposite to analytical USB...

Never tried the coax... I'm allergic to  fiio/ibasso devices...

Sorry, I don't understand what you're talking about. We seem to be talking of different things.

BTW, I like the sound from my Hugo fed by my FiiO players - via coax.

What does it mean ? Did you listen to a digital resolution?

Maybe it is not a Hugo, maybe its just a problematic COAX output from fiio.

Sorry, Juan, I simply don't understand you. And I'm sure that you're misunderstanding my posts, too. I have no problems with the sound of my Hugo, neither at low nor at high volume (or volume settings).

Here's one post from Rob Watts saying that digital resolution isn't audibly affected at low output volume settings (see point 2).

Oh! Got you! Sorry, I did understand it , now it's much clearer.
Thank's for the link, very informative.

It's doable once we've voided the warranty like this

Another flavor would look like this

That's amazing tho, but I would never mess with the warranty!

You have to optimize that USB PC/MAC to get sound better than any transport via optical.

Why didn't they put a 2.5mm balanced out, giving up one of the two 3.5mm (like on the AK120 II)??
Three reasons are immediately apparent to me...

One, A&K were the first to introduce this to market.
Two, there is no set standard for balanced TRRS (look at the wiring diagram for A&K and Sony, different!)
Three, 2.5mm is very fragile, and with the sheer heft of the Hugo, liable to damaging cables.

Because balance-out is a bluffing and scum in portable realization with 0 benefits... Instead of building a one good amp section,
AK sell a marketing Bul(*&(*& with "balanced output" ...

True too...

Single ended still has more than enough going for it, so long as powerful and clean enough [ground]... Especially for an on the road device :)

And maybe: 4) Hugo is not a balanced design, making it redundant to have a TRRS kind of jack.
