Yeah, I'm kind of nervous about standing in a line for 2-3 hours to listen to something then can jam closing or someone buying out the demo unit! Everything has a price...I like the reserve slots approach. Allows for more time listening and less time waiting in line.

We typically have an old school sign up sheet at the booth in case someone can't make it to their slot... If we have a no-show we contact the first person on the list to see if we can backfill the slot. If that person is not available then we move to the next and so on, etc. It has worked well in the past and we will do this again. Based on my records, on average one out of 22 slots is a no-show.

There's no line and the HE 1 won't be sold at the show. If a slot opens up, we call whoever is next up, right then and there.Yeah, I'm kind of nervous about standing in a line for 2-3 hours to listen to something then can jam closing or someone buying out the demo unit! Everything has a price...

By now, I imagine that most of you have seen @AxelCloris's 8 Top Tips From a CanJam Veteran video (the one that @NovaFlyer posted here). If you haven't yet, be sure to check it out. Once you finish that, here's another tip, about tips:
If you're into IEMs, bring your own selection of tips to demo stuff with.
But Warren, don't the exhibitors provide tips? Yes, of course they do. But with this year's CanJam SoCal again breaking attendance records, I can see a case where it might be hard to squeeze in all the auditions we want. In addition, there might be an IEM that we want to hear, that isn't being exhibited. So what to do? Luckily, with Head-Fiers coming in from all over the world, I expect that many of them will be bringing some top tier or exotic IEMs themselves... and ad hoc meets have been known to break out before/during/after the show.
To make it easy (and hygienic) for us to audition each others' IEMs, it helps to have a selection of tips handy, all in our chosen sizes, that can accommodate various bores/nozzles. For example, I prefer small SpinFit tips, so I'll be bringing:
CP100+ (w/inserts) = for 4.0 mm bores; and nozzle diameters from 3.0 to 3.5 mm or 4.5 - 5.5 mm
CP145 = for 4.5 mm bores; and nozzle diameters from 5.0 - 6.0 mm
CP155 = for 5.5 mm bores; and nozzle diameters from 6.0 - 7.0 mm
The above will let me easily audition a wide variety of IEMs, while being courteous to fellow Head-Fiers that are kind and generous enough to let me spend time with their treasures.

That's an excellent idea! I don't really have any odd sizes these days, having long switched over to customs. But I'd bring them if I did!
Actually, I was thinking about that and realizing I probably don't need to bring any ciems with me. No share potential!That's an excellent idea! I don't really have any odd sizes these days, having long switched over to customs. But I'd bring them if I did!
This is just getting sad, man. No other vendor is demo'ing the he-1. Kudos and bravo to sennheiser to not only allow someone like myself to TRY this headphone, but to do it in a way that won't disrupt the rest of my weekend. And kudo's to sennheiser for their patience, it is clearly greater than mine.see, this is the problem with reserve slots. no other vendor needs to have reserve slots and it works out fine.

That is a super tough one! Based on the time I’ll probably do parts of a couple songs if possible to get variety. I think starting with scene six: home by dream theater is in order. Love the intro to that song. It’s 12 minutes long though so not the full thing .What song do you have in mind to start with?
80s alternative like the cure disintegration? Some classical Mozart?

its not like the he1 is unbeatable
I know and met a guy that has the HE-1 and his thoughts after some time owning it, he prefers his Susvara on TotalDac d1-twelve-mk3/Riviera AIC-10 combo on some tracks. Not sure if he still keeps the HE-1 as his work office setup though
