So I'm a college student who travels a decent amount and I'm looking for headphones that will block out airplane noise and keep out background noise while I study. So far I've narrowed down my search to Bose's QC15 and the much less expensive IEM Etymotic HF5. I really wanna go for the Etymotics, however, I'm concerned that they quite simply won't sound as good as the Bose. Thoughts? Thanks a ton!

More likely the Hf5's will sound 'better' in terms of quality of sound, however the QC15's will give more noise reduction because of the noise cancelling. I have a set of the Bose, but tend to use my Sennheiser IE80's more nowadays as I find they isolate well enough for my liking and give excellent sound, not to mention that they're easier to carry around when travelling.
