Beyerdynamic Headphones?

Can I please re-iterate...

XtremeD wants bass, bass, and more bass... imagine a pair of 15" long-throw subwoofers strapped to your head... that is the level of bass that he wants... I know this from various MSN Messenger conversations...

I really am not sure that anything else within the Beyer line-up will sound any better than what he already has...

Sorry forgot to tell - I'm limited to Beyerdynamic only. I'm doing exchange with the company itself.

Ok I think this is my decision:

If beyerdynamic makes me pay for the price difference then I'll go DT770 non pro and stretch the headband back

If they give me a choice of any free headphone then I'll go DT880.

But finally just want to check - is the dt880 brighter than dt770? And how much less is impact/volume of bass? Fun bass or boring?

1. Yes, quite a bit. 2. Also quite a bit - which means that to me the DT880 sounds like fun bass, because the sound is generally fairly balanced throughout the whole spectrum and well extended. So if Duncan's translation of your desired sound is true, you'd be better off with the DT770...

Yay made a decision:

DT770 non pro

Arrives on Monday - headphone + delievery being free

Beyerdynamic are one of the nicest companies and make great headphones. I'll sure look forward to their new products.

But nehow I chose the DT770 over the DT880 and DT990 firstly because I don't like the sound leakage, as I'd probably be wearing them on a plane, and the bass on Dt770 is what i'm looking for, and I don't like the over-brightness of the others. They may be higher quality in terms of soundstage etc but Im not looking for jazz music etc.

Hopefully it'll work out in the end and I'll be a happy head-fier again. I'll keep you updated when I get them on Monday.

For using the 770 600ohm version on a plane, you'd need a pretty pokey little amplifier...

I don't know the maths, but I'd say you'd be looking at 18v minimum, if not 27v to make those babies sing...

...be sure to let us know though

Duncan: Does Beyerdynamic produce a DT770 (non-Pro) with the old 600-Ohm-drivers at all? I thought, they'd only use the newer 250-Ohm-drivers for the non-Pro DT770...

I give up

You aren't going to get bass, and hey... you're not even going to get volume, out of just an MD headphone jack...

But... I'm not saying anything else in this thread...
