What do you guys think is the best headset to use for gaming paired with the Astro Mixamp? I had the DT880's and they were a little bit disappointing, as the volume wasn't what I had expected.

AD700 with mic...HD555 with mic...PC350 all in one.
What ohms were your DT880s?

Yeah...the Astro is known to not be made to handle high impedence phones that well. Some people have complained about low volume output and mediocre performance.
You'd be better off with the Audio Technicas AD700/900 or HD555.
I have the PC350 and they work very well. Many people here are concerned with modding their PC350 for better sound quality. I don't use these phones for music listening...just gaming, and they do a great job.

Alright, well, that being said, I also have a Musland US 02 headphone amp, do you think that will improve the sound while gaming or do you think I should just sell the Beyers and go with the AD900 for gaming. I do listen to music with those headphones (and, may I say, classical music sounds phenomenal with the Beyers). Also, if I do keep the Beyers, will the Musiland amp impede with my ability to talk, and how do I set it up with the Beyers to allow me to hear and talk?

250 ohm Beyers need a quality amp. I would run the astro mix amp to your main headphone amp. What amp do you normally use? If you don't have an amp already, you should really get one.

I've gamed on my DT990s hooked up to my Denon receiver and 360 playing Assassin's Creed and it sounded great.

Edit: Try it with your Musiland amp. It shouldn't mess with your mic. Make sure your amp can handle an amped input signal

3.5 to RCA, if you don't have any then try Radioshack.

if you don't want to get an amp, you could return/sell your dt880 250 ohm and get the 32 ohm instead. Amazon has one left for $299. Your mixamp shouldn't have any issues with that version.

socalguy, I have an amp, just that Musiland one. Right now, I'm asking if it would be better to have the DT880's with the Musiland with the Astro Mixamp, or if it would be better to have the AD900's with the Astro Mixamp or the AD900's with the Musiland and the Astro Mixamp. Keep in mine, this is strictly for gaming, and some music, mainly classic rock, hard rock, smooth Jazz, and classical.
