I would like to eventually buy a MAD Ear+ kit, but I would really love to build it with balanced inputs/output to fully enjoy my HD650 in their entirety.

Has anyone tried/done this? Is it hard or unimaginably expensive?

It's already transformer-coupled, I'd say it's "almost balanced".
