Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction

Can anyone that owns these make any comparisons to the CKM-500?

That was my next planned AT iem purchase but the price these seem like a winner.

I have already on one of these posts, but quickly, the CKM500 is more syrupy in the mids with muddy bass. The mids are blurry. The IM70 has fuller notes (taller and wider) with clarity. The bass quantity is more in the IM70 but clearer and more solid. I believe the IM70 has a wider soundstage, but I would have to AB to make sure of that. But I can without a doubt that the IM70 is the better value.

I plan to buy this for my rap and alternative and the TDK IE800s for my R&B and Jazz. Unless, these are also good with soft/relaxing music(euphoric/atmospheric).

I would think an iem this good would be a waste on Rap....it's basically just computer music with some yapping over the top.

Thank you.

I'll have to look for that thread.....but these IM70 are a no-brainer considering the price........once you're spending $60 for something like the CKM500.....whats another $50 for an iem thats clearly superior in every way.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I appreciate any input. From what I observed, these seem to have an "upfront" presentation and it's not a laid back sounding IEM. So I've narrowed it down to the IM70s and the RHA-750s. I'll buy the TDK IE800s on a later date for my more subdued collection.

I have all three. The IM70 has more bite in the sound than the IE800. More bite - to a lesser extent - than the MA750 too.

Sounds like it's right up my alley.

I have one more question regarding the sounds. Which one has the best soundstage out of the three?

I am a person that appreciates a good portrayal of depth and width. I hope to be enveloped by sounds from different directions. Or at least from a slight "distance".

Decision made. Will purchase it next Friday. Thanks for the assistance Ericp10, blazer78, and by a miniscule margin, Assimilator702.

:beerchug:

And the bass does settle down quite a bit with burn in. That's why I think this may be a better choice over the IM50 for those who like that extra bass umph!

F m200 vs. Im70 plz eric

M200 is more refined, but Im700great for the price. Right now, those are the two universals I listen to the most. But to answer your question definitely, M200.
