Audio Technica ATH-CK10

To remove my CK10's I have actually found the "customs under ear push" to be a great method. Basically I push up a tiny bit from underneath my ear like I do when I want to remove my JH5's. This seems to do the trick every time and doesn't involve putting any strain or wear on the cable/strain relief/shell.

Also any of you guys cut off the top flange for these like you would with the shure triple flange?

No, those will make your harshness issue worse. That tip has a large bore sound hole so it will pass through even more highs. If you want to tame the highs these will do it very well. Get the long stem version and trim to size. http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/roauprtrflti.html

So how are these fake monster tips different from real monster tips? Cuz I tried the xmas trees that came with my MTPC and just could not get a seal with them on the CK10s

That's great. Did you snip the top or are you using them whole?

fake monsters are a bit softer.  if you can't get a seal with them, you need a bigger tip.  i get a perfect seal with mine.

i actually haven't tried the monster tips, but people who have tried both have told me they sound the same. after all, the barrel length, width and shape are all the same.  isolation of ety tips are legendary..  i wouldn't expect anything to match up aside from foamies or customs :p

I tried the christmas trees again today and actually got a pretty solid seal. I realized I was putting the CK10s on wrong! LOL. The faceplate should be facing forward parallel with the face, while pointing down toward slightly the chin, instead of facing outward parallel to the ears.

Once I did that, it was so much easier putting them on and getting a good seal. Man.

LOL I can't even begin to insert the tips that way! they would pop out half way in.
Anyway these tips have turned my ck10s into pure bliss. I was listening to the new fleet foxes album with these and I nearly started to cry.
