The USB inputs for the Reference 5 and the other DSP dacs like the Dac19 and the FUN have been upgraded to 24Bit/96KHz.

My Ref5 hasn't even finished burning in that a new version is already coming out. Kingwa never sleeps...

Don't bee embarassed the PMC100 in the DAC9 doesn't have a soft rolloff switch like the DF1704,  so soft is turning on DEEM,  which is of course going to sound bad except for those 10 or so CD's left with DEEM.  Its a silly thing to call it soft,  just call it DEEM.

Was talking about dac9mk3 which has a soft switch, no soft switch in ref 5. Just letting people know that they're not missing much by not having the soft switch which has a big rolloff of highs you probably won't ever need unless you happen to have a setup with harsh treble. It's kinda cool, but feels it was primarily put there as a safety net if people decided to plug a crap transport into it, and crap amp and headphones too. If you pair right the high frequency ambience is nice, I presume what I notice with my setup should be similar to ref 5+roc.

Nice Massy, and I will probably be one of the first to test LCD-2's, balanced with the Roc / Ref 5 combo.  My name hasn't come up yet on the wait list but hopefully I am not too far off.

I already ordered pure silver cable and connectors to make my own cable.

This is what I am using for my first cable:

4-pin mini xlr's x 2

4-pin male XLR x 1 (silver contacts)
http://www.alliedelec.com/search/productdetail.aspx?SKU=5141086

wire (IC-4 braid)

Also ordered some sleeving and heat shrink.  Going to use Cardas Solder.

Im trying to find this one (http://www.neutrik.com/client/neutrik/media/products/view/210_433692781.jpg)  somewhere, supposed to be their high end version.

ok I found a pretty good site it seems, cheaper then most others on the HD version too.

Neutrik Silver Contact (Black Housing) 4-pin XLR

Neutrik Gold Contact (Stainless Steel Housing) 4-pin XLR-HD series

Apparently the HD series is just for heavy duty use, outdoor etc....still looks cooler.

I searched around a bit, and redco was what I settled for, some may be lower but I think shipping here is really low for low price totals (like under ~$15) if I remember right. No HD version however.

shipping cost me 8 bucks from markertek in total, I also hit Amazon for a new soldering iron the HAKKO series 936 w/907 iron, a heat gun, new multimeter and some tips :D  Figured why not do it right instead of using my old run down soldering iron, plus I can make as many cables as I want in the future.

also here is the best mini 1/8" right angle plug you can find for DIY probably, imo.

Pardon the ignorance, but what is DEEM?
