ATH-W1000X Thread!

Even though this thread is dead, I'm still giving it a try.
I'm looking for replacement pads and I've read about the W5000 pads. But besides being leather are they also bigger? As in, the opening of the earpad?
Because currently I'm using Brainwavz velour earpads which makes them more comfortable, but it affects the sound badly and increases sound leakage.
Any other tips for pads that are available in EU?

Does anyone know how A1000Z or a2000z is compared to w1000x?
I missed one for 235usd.

The only thing I would modify with the W1000X is along the lines of the Purrin mod: Tighten the bass response, make it less boomy (at times), more articulate, and layered, if the last property is achievable at all.
Other than that, minus the flabby or boomy bass at times (depending as well on the source material - recording) - very nice cans, with good potential (minus the bass issue).

I bought new ATH-W1000X headphones for my collection. I listen to them with CEntrance HiFi-M8 V2 (532 mW/32 Ohm). Beautiful headphones with beautiful sound!

Very nice, how much $ they were?

Do you have other closed backs?

Any comparisons?
It would be interesting to read the comparisons and impressions vs. other closebacks you got there...
They are all different in sound and price. The only thing I can say about the ATH-W1000X. If you want to find musical headphones with a sound more expensive than their price and you have a source with a power of at least 0.5 W, then the Audio-Technica Grandioso is what you need.

What do you mean with " A sound more expensive than their price" the w1000x are headphones that you would say sound better than "they should" for what you paid?
