Yeah, I think I am pretty much in Musical Nirvana. I have a pair of SR-007 MK2s with the SRM-717 Stax amp and tubed Audio Note DAC front end.
I think it is all about glass almost full. I really enjoy the music, and find I don't think so much about the gear behind it anymore. For me, it is not only the headphones, and at this level it matters even more, it is about the front end feeding those cans. Digital front ends, either CDP or PC based need a lot of work to overcome the digital treble edge, to get the soul of the music back close to a good vinyl rig.
On PC based front ends, I think that means really careful server set-ups, and good cabling, then a great USB-SPDIF convertor into a (IMHO) a none oversampling DAC WITHOUT the brick wall filter. Once you have that, you can then I have found, get to vinyl levels of soul in digital playback. The cans just then have to reproduce it. And Stax cans WILL take no prisoners with harsh digital front ends....
