The "Rover" V8 is a very solid design and originally was built by Buick in 1960 as a 215ci model (smallest production V8 ever built in the US). Over time it was refined and enlarged, eventually reaching 300ci (5L) with forced induction outputs as high as 700-800bhp at >9k RPMs. It's the basic design of the V8 in Koenigsegg production cars, only they use large amounts of titanium and CF for added strength. Although the F1 remake wouldn't have that legendary V12, the V8 could potentially be more reliable and be a heck of a lot lighter.

No but seriously I have never heard of this before, and I'm guessing Magick is right. I do remember a friend, years ago, who (with some help, obviously) pulled the "Weird Science" gag with a guy's MG (except it actually took closer to 10 hours in person, and there were ~8 of them to do it, versus the two guys in the movie who pulled it off in an hour). The owner was less than impressed, but everyone else thought it was funny as hell.

Lots going on today, I spent a good bit of it helping take apart a Countach. Interesting fact: did you know that most of the body panels on them snap on and off like Legos? They have tabs and anchors, and if you pry them the proper way they come right off. We stripped them off in ~ an hour (we're repainting them all Alpine white) and I helped rebuild the engine, which came loose easily from the chassis, after being disconnected from the transaxle/differential. It all comes apart a lot like a race car. We replaced all the seals, gaskets, pistons, 4 warped valves, water pump, and spark plugs (you have to drop the drivetrain to replace the water pump, or at least that's the fastest way). No wonder Lamborghini charges $4000 to do it. While we were doing that, someone else stripped and rebuilt the carbs, then we put it all back together. They were painting the panels when I left, and we'll get it buttoned up tomorrow. It's like getting paid to play, one of the garage guys said. I think they're avoiding the younger bull, and I can't really blame them, that's a crazy complex undertaking with very little in the way published assistance.

The GTC/4 is all done, steam cleaned and detailed w/ new rubber, leather, and mats.



It looks good, especially the interior, but I'm thinking about going with a different paint color. Impressions?

Okay, I guess that's a bad choice, just doesn't seem to be the sort of sports car that should be red, or black for that matter. Probably not keeping it, though, I'm not really thrilled with the way it drives, due to the longer wheelbase it's a lot like a late-90s Corvette (kinda looks like one too). We could likely do a lot of work with the suspension to make it more pliable, but then that would wreck the value. So, meh.

It looks very good indeed. Why not a very dark green metallic colour like the ones found in Blower Bentleys. I always wanted to see a Ferrari in dark green, sometimes it looks very good. Although I think the green colour might not fit with the interior colour. Metallic dark green goes better with light coloured leather.

Warren and all others car shopping, hold off until this comes to the US in a few months. RWD, Pentastar 3.3L V6, pushrod suspension, 300bhp, 30MPG (a lot of 3s there):





Tell me, why Alfa is the only car manufacturer in the world who can make a 4-door, mid-range, passenger saloon look like pure pornography? :eek: The price? No, not 60k, or 50, not even 40... $35k. I know I'm buying one.
