Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

Well, if I had the choice at the time, I would go with the A600 as well. 80 WPC seems to be a pretty nice number for the HE-6. However, I am still surprised at what the 20 WPC P-AM (II) is capable of.

Yeah, I wouldn't talk down the PA-M(II) at all. It's a nice looking amp, internally it's well done, then the craftsmanship is good, and it works for you. Sounds like a win to me.

*for the A600, I'm going to replace that volume knob. In person I'm not a fan of how it comes together with the face plate. Looks like I've managed to create a new project for myself, again...

Holy ****; i want one! What is plugged into the headphone out of the PreAmp Spec1?

A Grado extension cable for the LA7000 I sometimes listen to................my sitting area is about 12 feet away from the system so both the HE-6 direct wire feed and the "normal" headphone plug run under that area rug you see in the picture.

You have a lot of denons and LA phones! How do you find them compared to the HE-6? I've been considering them but I've never been sure.

I love the Denon/Fostex sound signature, have since my first D2000 about 4 years ago.................but nothing compares to the HE-6.

I've got a Viva Egoista amplifier.
It's GREAT & I'm sure it would drive the HE6 without problems...

And what leads you to believe this?  Do you have output power specs?  I seem to not be finding them on the Viva web site.  Maybe I'm just blind...

Has anyone tried a Carver TFM-45 with the HE-6?

I've got a Carver PM-1.5 which does quite well with the HE-6.

I actually ended up getting an M500t. I'm feeling it should be a good step up from the mini-x.

Viva Egoista 845 outputs 15 watts

In 8 Ohms I take it? Anyway, 15W should be enough for even HE-6. However, how you like the music presentation will always define how good you think it sounds. When I had the 12W Leben CS300 tube amp, I thought it was extremely good for classical and vocal music, but didn't care much for it with rhythmical music. Bass was there, but not as hard and tight as with my solid state amps.

I agree with your opinion.
I've got 1000s of records including rock (from 50s to actual bands) soul, jazz, classical...
Sometimes I love to listen jazz singers (Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald...) & other times I prefer Albert Ayler, Art Blakey, Eric Dolphy or Coltrane...
Sometimes I listen The Beatles or Le orme (Ad gloriam is a Great LP) & other times I listen No wave (DNA, Mars, Glenn Branca...) or Hendrix or Joy Division...
So I need a powerful bass with impact & smoothness on voices...
My favorite combo is Abyss 1266 with Viva Egoista and Mamba cables.
The Viva amplifier has a lot of power & could drive any headphone without problems
You could enjoy it with HE6...
