Are the AKG K702 still in production or discontinued by the manufacturer?

Anyone here getting in on the K7XX drop? If so, I'd appreciate a comparison with the K702 annies when you get them.

If it's true they are "based on the K702 65AE" then I would guess they are using the same materials and production methods of the later versions, i.e. the ones that sound like the K712. The pads from the pictures kind of look like the later production pads as well, vs the early production pads.

Speaking of pads, what are the telling difference between the old and the new pads. My annie is #781, which is probably early enough to have the old pads, I guess. How can I tell which one I've got?

If what I read is true, from memory:

Older pads = shallow cup, wider soundstage, memory foam
New pads = deeper cup, better bass response at the expense of some soundstage, angled, gel padding

Is this correct?

I own both a k712 and a k702/65th, both are late production models made in Austria. Same pads, not angled but there's a little more interior space than what is shown in the pictures from the older annie pads.

I think differences between them are really subtle, maybe there's a little more bass on the k712, but it's almost unperceptible. Bass on the k702/65th is really good already. I think I like the annies a bit more than the k712, but both are great headphones, and I'm loving the way they sound, really balanced and detailed in my opinion.
