I repurchased that cable when I repurchased the headphone, it has however not arrived yet. From memory I would say the sound was more in line with the stock cables, whereas this cable: http://highertasteproject.com/shop/index.php?id_product=101&controller=product seems a hair brighter and energetic in sound. (But has no remote, but still shorter and less bulky than the stock studio and coiled cable).

Didn't A/B much. In general I think the cable makes little difference, I will test when it arrives.

I don't know if it works with iPhone, I don't have one. It says it does.

Yeah I think you can go travelling with it.

For a case it is probably best to lay it flat like this:

I only fold it like this for the neopren bag:

Because if you fold it in to the compact shape like this:

then the top earpad get squashed and is really pressed flat if you leave it like that for a day:

dunno which case fits. I think the included pouch is enough, if you pack it wisely in a duffel bag for air travel paded with clothes and whatnot.

In a backpack I would be careful not to pack it too tightly, and not through the backpack around.

I think I will get the cable looks real nice.

I am interested in these cases: I am a penny pincher. Which would fit best?

The AKG K267 has amazing value right now if you can score it on Massdrop. I recently auditioned the JH Audio Angie Universal IEM. I must say that, with Angie's Bass Pots set at 12 o'clock they sound almost exactly like the K267's bass set in Studio Mode. $1,099.00 sound for $130.00....there, I said it.

It seems like all the Tiesto headphones are discontinued, including AKG K267 - http://www.akg.com/pro/p/k267tiesto . That's probably the reason why there are so many cheep drops on Massdrop - AKG has been clearing their storehouses.

That's interesting. I've had my 267's for somewhere around 5 or 6 months now, and just a few days ago I was listening to my Narmoo S1 IEM's which I picked up for $35.00, and thinking that they had probably close to 80% of the soundstage as the K267's. Don't get me wrong, I like the 267's, but in my eyes they're maybe a slight boost in sound quality over the infamous ATH-M50x. Granted, likely because I'm not a huge fan of mid bass and much prefer the ability of a headphone to reproduce the lower end spectrum I have a slight bias toward the K267's. But anway, with the M50x having around $130 street value, I don't think I'd put the K267 value past something around $160. I would be downright disappointed with them if I had bought them for the "MSRP" of $300.00 USD.

My question to you is what is your source + gear? I didn't see anything posted in your profile. The following is my opinion only while playing Redbook up to 24bit/192khz music files. I find that the K267 scales very well the better the source and gear used is. I have used the Astell & Kern Titan Ak120 DAP which highlighted the excellent treble response of the K267. I loved the Chord Mojo by itself but I find I prefer the Mojo acting as a DAC with variable gain feeding the Cavalli Audio Liquid Carbon; this combo adds weight to the sub bass and speeds up the overall transient response. I have just acquired the Wyrd 4 Sound recovery (which has replaced the Schiit Wyrd Reclocker) and putting it in front of the Mojo has added a faster leading edge and made vocals more holographic while my Schiit Asgard handles the amping. Again I find the K267 to punch above the closed back HP for $500.00+ region easily. I guess its all a matter of what your musical tendencies and source gear are too.

I've just been running audio from my laptop into an E17 through SPDIF (24/192 FLAC) or my iPod into Cayin C5 (320 CBR). That's really quite a bit less hi-fi than your setups though; I'm both intrigued and impressed. I'll have to try running them through my dad's desktop system when I visit, it's considerably better than anything I have.
I always thought they sounded just a little bit dark, but maybe that's a pairing property or has something to do with me being used to the slightly warm 598.

Hate to revive a dead thread, but I would strongly recomment not buying this headphone.  I had the reinforced 10X version with the bump and always treated carefully (although I have a big head).  Hinge broke today in a similar manner to other ones while putting it on my head.

Well done, AKG.
