Even the wood box RS1 used to come with an outer box like this, I believe.

Im also pretty sure that the wood box RS-1 came with the cardboard outer box.
Bozebuttons has a cardboard outer box as well as the wood box for his RS-1

Are yours true vintage? With the box / brown headband etc? I thought all the mesh in older pairs was black.

yeppo, they are the old ones.
for some reason, they have lighter leather than other brown headband RS-1 I have seen photos of, but thats OK.

someone else's amp, my headphones.

It may have been my pair on my balanced RA-1 clone that you heard at jjcha's mini-meet a while back.

Yeah. Couldn't do them. They're almost there... but I just kept wanting the extra something special that I missed from the RS1.

Humm... maybe. I know I've heard Bozebutton's RS1 at meets. And someone else's, can't remember who off the top of my head.

I should do some pictures of this RA-1 too. It's a really nice color. Darker than the headphones, and not in the super-dark treatment way newer RS1 cups are.

I've read your posts before in regard to pricing.

You generally don't know what you're talking about.

That's what it seems. And, after extended listening, that's what it sounds like.

Yep. Glad we're agreed.

the HP-1000 drivers look totally different.

looking through the mesh, the HP-1000 drivers are obviously white from the back, and from the front have something of a star-shaped cone shape (the actual driver cone) VS black and a smooth dome.

Huh... so... the vintage RS1 doesn't have an HP-1000 driver in it?

Enjoy those RS1's Mercuttio. You got them for a steal considering the amp was included. The finish on the wood looks excellent from your photos.
