  Never mind. MAM order placed

It looks like the modules have some sort of rubber washer to hold them in place.

That's probably an o-ring.

Actually they have two that act as a seal.

So these MAMs. Fiddly little buggers, aren't they?

How does one tune each ear separately?

Are you supposed to stop turning the second you hear a difference or keep going a tad?

Any tips would be appreciated. I've watched the video but none of the methods seem to work for me. I can say that both fully closed and fully open sound wrong so I do need to find somewhere in the middle!

I am with you. I could not distinguish any differences with the first two methods in the video so i used the third one (music) but I had to adjust both sides at the same time. One at a time did not do the trick for me. I end up at about 1/2 a turn back from the total open position.

How much isolation is lost when using the MAM's?

I will be using these on the train and require some isolation from the train noise and people on their cell phones.   I am currently using the U'6's and I am very happy with their sound and isolation.  I am hit with a case of upgrade-itis and have placed an order for the U12's with MAM's (and a really good cable) but I am starting to be concerned due to how they will be used 75% on the train. Will opening the MAMS let sound in?
How about disturbing other people?  I live in NYC and people have been shot for less

The U12's have not shipped yet nor has the MAM module.

Your opinions are appreciated

Thanks!!

I live in NJ and take NJ transit train to Manhattan everyday with my A12's. I have both the B! and S1 module and no one can hear your music. I can hear some external noise only when there is no music playing. Don''t give it a second thought.

Thanks Ken!!

It is tough dealing with buyers remorse for something I haven't even received yet

Are the MAMs half open similar to the B-1's ?

My S1 module on the U6's are great at isolation

Just to follow up on isolation between the isolation of the B1 and MAM, the MAM fully closed is just like a sealed non-adel IEM. So if you're looking for maximum isolation in various situations, that's your best bet.

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but a rough break down in terms of isolation is:
MAM fully closed
S1
G1
B1
MAM fully open.

Yeah they have dual rubber O-Rings that hold and seal the modules in place. Sorry, I had a response half way written yesterday afternoon, then I needed to give my computer over to our engineer for a few tweeks on a design. Regardless, we've had 10,000+ modules in and out of the testing bench and we've had an armature burn out, before the section around the module having issue. So for a consumer, there shouldn't be any issue with swapping modules in & out, in a normal amount (unless somebody gets super rough with swapping them or something like that.

Thanks

Probably use Mams 1/2 to 3/4 open.  Hopefully it will provide enough isolation.  I listen to mostly hard rock and metal so there wont be many quite passages.  The S1's in my U6's do a good job.   I might just keep those as well.  Hopefully my wife doesn't monitor this forum

I just got the MAM as well.
I am not sure if the one I got is defective or not.
When I turned the MAM to from fully closed to open, there was a air leakage sound, like the iem was not properly put on and not getting a proper seal.
I kept adjusting the way I wore the iem but it didn't work.
I gave up and put back the B1 and everything was fine, sound was great too.
So I will keep using the B1 and forget the MAM.

It seems many of you went for the higher end models, U12, U8, U6 but I didn't find much information on the "lower" end models like U3 or U4 which are more in my budget (U4 are already quite a stretch). Any reviews or comparisons between these 2 ? I can get Westone W40 or Earsonics SM64 for the same budget... I really like the concept of ADEL technology but am still wondering if it's worth it. The more drivers, the more sound pressure, the more relevant is the ADEL tech isn't it ? I don't aim for the ultimate fidelity, I have my home setup for that, but still want punchy and deep bass along with clean and extended highs. Thanks for your inputs !

Are you guys seeing what I am seeing? There is no reference to ADEL anymore on 64Audio's website. They have replaced it with something similar and are calling it APEX technology. No ADEL modules for sale in their accessories section either. Also, under the 'Technology' menu, they now have something called the 'Tia'.

Also try searching for A3 and A4 in this thread. I believe there was some discussion a while back on those. And if I remember correctly, A4 has a bassy tuning while the A3 has a balanced tuning in comparison.
